Retired educators association honors Davis' Maudie Huggins

Maudie Huggins of Davis is the 2010 Very Important Member of the Murray County Retired Educators Association. Her entire career was spent at Davis Public School, where, over the years, she taught first, second, third, sixth and seventh grades and served as elementary and middle school counselor. She retired in 2001 after 30 years of service. She and her husband, John, have two children who are graduates of Davis High School. Their daughter, Denise White, teaches at Davis, and their son David Huggins is a computer consultant in Plano, Texas. They have two grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Since retirement, Mrs. Huggins has been secretary of the Murray County unit and served on the membership and health committees. She enjoys making quilts with her church group for the children's home and for premature babies in hospitals, as well as sewing for her greatgranddaughters. She was among the 38 educators from across the state who were honored May 14 at the annual convention of the Oklahoma Retired EducatorsAssociation.
